A World of Friendship and Adventure Awaits!

Healing and our Home Planet -
Welcome to a place that has cultivated growing food, apple trees, and gathering together for over 40 years. Yes, this will be a different Summer but campers will still explore the farm and forest; and try their hand at artistic expression and theater production. We will celebrate life and care for  the earth. We stand with all families from urban and rural communities and we learn from the wisdom of ethnic and indiginous cultures.

This summer our core staff Amy Erard, Earl Smith, Yumiko Sandoe, Gillian Atkinson Roberts, Maria Orsatti and Eleanor Elbers will lead camp weeks with support from teachers and teen interns. We will be joined by guest eco-educators, farmers, artisans, drummers, and dancers.
The Orchard School welcomes campers with different abilities and special needs.

We are offering four weeks of camp, July 6 - August 7.

Connected By Art Cultures around the world; plants and animals from farm, forest and streams; our feelings... There are so many things we want to be in touch with. During this week we will experience creating art with different themes and methods. Come join us! Make Japanese calligraphy and origami. Sculpt plants, flowers, bugs or frogs with colorful clay. Invent your own animals with African art style. Create feelings mandalas! Art can connect you with so many things! Of course you will be connected with new and old friends, creating art together!!!

EcoAdventures Come explore the magic and lore living in the woods and wilds of Orchard Hill. We'll share in the ancient practices of fire making, shelter building, storytelling, singing, sneaking, playing games and so much more! Prepare to get dirty, have fun and explore the wild. With our eyes wide like the owl, our ears alert like the deer and all our senses on high, we will explore the wilds around Orchard Hill. We will search for tracks, dip nets in streams, and discover the diversity of life that lives around us.

Farm Fun Organic agriculture and local food production has become a national inspiration. In the midst of high summer the gardens and fields explode with sustenance and food. This week we have scavenger hunts in the garden, and dig deep into the soil and life that nourishes our bodies. Campers take part in daily farm chores: collecting eggs, feeding animals, and working in the gardens. Eating farm fresh snacks is the yummiest part of this camp.

Forest Explorers Who else lives in the forest community? With our eyes wide like the owl, our ears alert like the deer and all our senses on high, we will explore the wilds around Orchard Hill. We will search for tracks, dissect rotting logs, dip nets in streams, touch and taste wild plants and discover the diversity of life that lives around us.

Movement/Dance/Drumming Campers enjoy farm, forest, and arts....With any luck, our friends from Sankofa can be here. We are definitely in for movement, making music, dancing and drumming, too.
