We Need Your Support…

We are delighted to say that the Orchard School and Community Center has completed a second year as a vibrant center for gathering and building community. Our mission includes family, community, and arts opportunities with accessibility at the heart of what we do. A steady stream of over seventy children and adults bustle in and out each week. Twenty-five families use our Arts and Ecology After School and Home School programs. Yoga, Orisha Afro-Cuban dance, and Shapenote singing groups meet weekly. Music and literary events continue to enrich us. February Vacation Day Camps for Elementary school students welcomed thirty-eight children from twelve different schools! The Orchard Hill Quaker Worship group meets each Sunday and all are welcome. Our Craft Fair in December featured forty local artisans, delicious food from Orchard Hill Breadworks, and you, our community, who came out in support and to Buy Local. We host concerts, birthday parties and weddings, arts events, and more. It’s truly extraordinary the amount of activity that is generated!

"We are truly a community-supported organization."

How does it all happen? Our leadership is a group of 7 women who give their time in tech support, communications, finances and filling our calendar. They are supported by a diverse group of volunteers who help with facilities upkeep, repairs and recycling, snow removal, and helping out with children’s programs. Educators, healers, artists, and friends show up in remarkable ways that light up the daily miracles and help negotiate challenges. We collaborate with Monadnock Developmental Services (MDS). We receive camperships from the Alstead, Cheshire County, and Acworth Conservation Commissions, the Acworth Community Charitable Fund, and the Marlow Children’s Fund. The Catalyst Fund, as part of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, gave a generous grant to bring our Center’s work into greater fiscal stability.

We are truly a community supported organization. We rely on your contributions to keep our doors open. Please give. In the most surprising and serendipitous way, people from all over the US and the world find their way to this place of sustenance, discovery, peace, and inspiration! We welcome you:-)

The mission of the Orchard School & Community Center is to foster community learning, healing, and sustaining.  We encourage programs that provide inclusive learning for children and adults.  We provide healing space for movement, expression, and the restoration of vitality.  We sustain the community by encouraging connection with the land, the arts, and the diversity of cultures beyond our rural community.
