A World of Adventure Awaits!

Summer camp enlivens The Orchard School and Community Center from late June through early August. In addition to weekly themes, each camper enjoys swimming and playing in the pond, scouting the fields and forest trails, and making great new friends! Our talented staff bring together joyful enthusiasm, loving hearts, and hard work to create a stellar camp experience. Each day, the entire camp community meets for all-camp games and song, so no matter what camp you choose, you will be part of the heart and energy of The Orchard School. We welcome campers with all abilities and gifts to our learning community.
Our core staff of Amy Erard, Eleanor Elbers, Maria Orsatti, and Yumiko Sandoe will be joined by teen interns, guest eco-educators, artists, farmers, drummers, and dancers.

Wee Folk and Wonder (5-7)  A sense of wonder fills the air as these young explorers open their hearts and minds to all life on Orchard Hill each summer. Wee Folk campers enjoy building gnome homes and fairy houses, crafting their own costumes and dolls, and exploring the magic of farm, forest, and stream. Embark with us into the world of Elves, Dryads, and Gnomes to discover this magical world with your children.

July 8 - 12

Farm Camp, with Amy Erard (5-7, 8-10)  Organic agriculture and local food production has become a national inspiration. In the mist of high summer the gardens and fields explode with sustenance and food. This week we have scavenger hunts in the garden, and dig deep into the soil and life that nourishes our bodies. Campers take part in daily farm chores: collecting eggs, feeding animals, and working in the gardens. Eating farm fresh snacks is the yummiest part of this camp. Cooling off at the pond will be daily fare.

July 15 - 19

Forest and Ecology Camp Explorers (5-8, 9-11)  Come explore the magic and lore living in the woods and wilds of Orchard Hill. We’ll share in the ancient practices of fire making, shelter building, storytelling, singing, sneaking, playing games and so much more! Prepare to get dirty, have fun and explore the wild. With our eyes wide like the owl, our ears alert like the deer and all our senses on high, we will explore the wilds around Orchard Hill. We will search for tracks, dip nets in streams, and discover the diversity of life that lives around us.

July 22 - 26

Connected by Art, with Yumiko Sandoe (7-9, 10-12)  Cultures around the world; plants and animals from farm, forest and pond; our feelings... There are so many things we want to be in touch with. During this week we will experience creating art with different themes and methods. Come join us! Make Japanese calligraphy and origami. Sculpt plants, flowers, bugs or frogs with colorful clay. Invent your own animals with African art style. Create feelings mandalas! Art can connect you with so many things! Of course you will be connected with new and old friends, creating art together!!!

August 5 - 9

SANKOFA West African Village, with members of Sankofa Dance Theater (5-7, 8-10 11-13)

Since 1995—24 years—generations of the Sankofa Dance Theatre members have blessed our summer camp community with their energy, music, and theatre. The sound of the drum will become the heartbeat of your children in this week of musical enchantment. Join the Ajanku family, dancers and drummers of Sankofa Dance Theatre in a weeklong experience of community and understanding. We work together for a peaceful world through artistic expression. During the week, campers get to know each other through dance, crafts, drumming, acting, and summertime fun. Don’t miss: Friday performance on August 9th! The Public is Welcome and encouraged to join us!
