Make Something Day at The Center - Join us on March 10 and April 14!

The winter months can be long and our kitchens lonely if we spend too much time alone in them! We join together on the 2nd Friday of each month September through April to make something that will nourish ourselves and our families. We often have extra to donate to a local family as well! This group started in the fall of 2021 with sauerkraut day. We had a few cabbages from the Orchard Hill Community garden and we ordered a whole lot more from Harlow Farm Stand in Westminster, VT. On that Friday, we worked our way through over 100 lbs of cabbage in just a couple of hours and each went home with our winter’s supply of sauerkraut and we even had a couple of jars to give away.

Each month was an opportunity to make something new. During that winter we made fire cider, hand salve and lotion, raspberry and nettle seed shrub, cider vinegar hair rinse, hand-dipped beeswax candles, and spring cleanse tonic. This year we repeated many of the things we made last year because what would winter be without a large supply of handmade lotion, sauerkraut and beeswax candles?

There is always music, laughter, and good conversation while we work and we would love to have you join us!

Coming up in March we will be making Rosemary Gladstar’s honey herb cough drops and elderberry shrub!

In April we will make bees wrap and upcycled yoga bolsters!
